PIEDMONT — Cornerback Cardavion Myers (Western Kentucky) and defensive tackle Logan Beadles (Liberty) signed their scholarship papers in December, during the inaugural early signing period for college football, but had their signing-day ceremony Wednesday.
They joined long snapper Micah Bennefield, who committed Monday and signed with Miles College.
Myers was the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Class 3A back of the year, accounting for 3,121 total yards and 44 touchdowns as Piedmont’s quarterback in 2017. The 6-foot, 170-pound senior moved from cornerback to quarterback after 2016 senior Taylor Hayes graduated and will move back to cornerback in college.
Beadles was a finalist for 3A lineman of the year in 2016 and 2017. In 2017, the 6-3, 300-pound senior ranked third on Piedmont’s team with 97 tackles. He tied for the team lead with 16 tackles for loss and led the Bulldogs with 11 sacks.
Bennefield had seven tackles, one for loss, but got a full-scholarship opportunity as a long snapper.
“I think these guys will go to their respective schools and do well,” Piedmont coach Steve Smith said. “We’re very appreciative of the places and things that these kids get an opportunity to go, but each of these guys, their best football is in front of them.”
