NOTEWORTHY: Tide freshman guard Herbert Jones went through practice Tuesday after missing the Tide’s game Saturday against Texas A&M with a concussion. Tide coach Avery Johnson told reporters in St. Louis he is “hopeful” that Jones will play Thursday. … The Crimson Tide lost to Texas A&M 68-66 on Saturday, extending its regular season-ending losing streak to five games. This is the first time since 2010-11 that Alabama opens the SEC tournament against the same team it ended the regular season with. … Alabama is 3-2 at the SEC tournament under Avery Johnson, including a run to the semifinals last season during which it beat eventual Final Four participant South Carolina.
