Phillip Tutor: The Trump view of Anniston’s new courthouse

New Federal Courthouse in Anniston

The U.S. General Services Administration released design renderings Friday morning for a new federal courthouse to be built in Anniston on Gurnee Avenue, the site of the former City Hall building. Construction on the 63,000 square-foot building is due to start this year.

President Trump will adore Anniston’s new federal courthouse. Or should, at least.

When finished, that $42 million investment in the city’s downtown will be a visual paean to classical architecture, a grand, 63,000-square-foot building that’s appropriate in size and scope. Oxford will forever have Interstate 20, and Anniston will have this.
