Honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment are core values for anyone, regardless of age. We should all aim that high.

Those core values are also at the center of the First Tee golf program, which Anniston Parks and Recreation Director Steven Folks has installed at Randolph Park Elementary School with the help of money raised by the Anniston Police Department. As you’d expect, the program is less about golf than the lessons learned for the youngsters at Randolph Park.

Folks deserves praise for bringing the First Tee program to Anniston, and we’re delighted to hear there are plans to expand it to other schools. Those core values are too important not to share.
