EDITORIAL: Don’t let mishandled messaging doom plan for Anniston’s homeless

ANNISTON STAR EDITORIAL BOARD

A well-intended plan to help the Anniston-area’s homeless took another blow this past week, and this one has left the effort reeling.

The plan is to turn the 85-bed former Noland Health nursing home on Leighton Avenue into a facility to provide shelter and social services for the area’s homeless. United Way of East Central Alabama was approved for a $300,000 grant to run the program alongside two other nonprofits — Interfaith Ministries and The Right Place.
