Bubba Wallace’s breakthrough in NASCAR came last year after a noose was found in his garage stall at Talladega Superspeedway.

Although the racist symbol was found by the FBI to have been left over to pull down the garage door and not aimed at Wallace, the fallout, outrage and controversy turned him into a voice for social change.
