According to today's New York Times, there now have been 757 fatalities from commercial airlines crashes (regardless of the cause) in 2014 -- and it's only July.
The Times reported this week that 2012 was the best year for airline safety since the end of World War II, with 2013 being even better. This year is turning out quite different.
