What do Derek Jeter, Cal Ripken, Ozzie Smith and Kirby Puckett have in common?

Lots, considering they all are (or were) Major League All-Stars. But in a dubious note, Jeter -- who'll bat leadoff for the AL team in tonight's All-Star Game -- is being compared today to Cal Ripken, who sports pundits say ranked as the worst All-Star starter in 2001.

The fine researchers at FiveThirtyEight.com have put together a list of the worst All-Star Game starters (based on statistics) since 1974.

Jeter, in case you're curious, isn't listed among the worst of the worst. But his statistics this year prove, as FiveThirtyEight writes, that the Yankees' captain is solidly a legacy pick.

Enjoy the game, nonetheless.
