Weaver residents will celebrate the city’s 72nd birthday Saturday during the annual Heritage Day at Elwell Park.
Food and craft vendors will fill the wooded park with tents of hand-made art while musicians will provide entertainment, Weaver Mayor Wayne Willis said by phone Wednesday.
“It’s going to be perfect weather,” Willis said.
The event kicks off with a pancake breakfast from 5 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Weaver Community Center benefitting the Weaver Volunteer Fire Department.
“One hundred percent goes into the volunteer fire department’s budget to buy equipment,” the mayor said.
Weaver Football for Youth will also host a 5k run, which is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. at the park, Willis said.
The festival will start at 8 a.m. and close at 3 p.m.
“It’s a great event for people to come out and socialize,” Willis said. “The crafters are always of the highest quality, there’s going to be great music and it’s all free.”
