Anniston's largest hospital has a new overseer of its computer network.
Regional Medical Center executives announced in a Wednesday press release that they had promoted Anthony "Pete" Furlow to chief information officer. As such, Furlow will be responsible for the development and use of the hospital's computer network. He will also lead the planning and use of the network to support clinical and business operations.
Furlow joined RMC's information technology department in 2009 as director of information technology.
“His dedication, knowledge and professional attitude have helped RMC make significant improvements to our IT infrastructure and further positioned our organization for future growth," Louis Bass, CEO of RMC, was quoted as saying in the release. "Pete is a tireless worker, outstanding leader and a tremendous asset ... we are pleased to announce his promotion.”
Before joining RMC, Furlow worked more than 15 years in the health care technology field. He served as director of network services at Baptist Systems in Jackson, Miss. He also worked as director of information technology at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga.
