PIEDMONT — A new business that caters to cyclists and to those who enjoy outdoor recreation will have a grand opening here Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. The community is encouraged to attend.
Becky and Robby Dunlap, owners of Pedal Forward, Piedmont, said the business will “serve as a place where community and tourism come together to share, learn and create new ideas that inspire a proud, future Piedmont.”
“We want it to serve as a community hub,” Becky Dunlap said. “We have created an environment that attracts cyclists, outdoorsmen and community members to have a place to enjoy a cup of coffee, a cold drink, and refuel with healthy snacks, gels, and other nutrition you need on your adventure.”
The new shop will also provide a do-it-yourself bike repair station for commuters.
“This is a great place to stop in and talk about your ride on the Ladiga Trail, your float down Terrapin Creek, or your hike on the Pinhoti Trail.”
Georgia natives themselves, the Dunlaps were attracted to Piedmont because of its outdoor resources, and its small-town atmosphere, they said.
“We are both excited to get involved and support the town,” Becky Dunlap said.
The couple enjoy mountain biking and hiking. Becky has experience in natural resources and tourism, while Robby has a background in signage and graphic design.
Prior to returning closer to home, the Dunlaps resided in Colorado for several years.
“Colorado is great about capitalizing on their outdoor resources and recreation opportunities,” Dunlap said. “It really helps bring in tourism, and people often stay because they are able to have such healthy lifestyles. We would love to be able to help Piedmont do the same.”
Pedal Forward, Piedmont is located at 108 S. Center Ave.
In the future, the community hub also hopes to provide assistance with booking and planning various local outdoor tourist activities.
