Area residents have a new choice in Oxford to fulfill their home furniture needs.

According to a Thursday press release, Georgia-based retail chain Farmers Home Furniture has opened at new store at 1881 U.S. 78 West, near Oxford Middle School. The store, which opened two weeks ago, will celebrate its grand opening with community leaders and corporate office representatives on Sept. 13.

The public is invited to attend the grand opening and tour the store.

An attempt to reach a store representative for comment Thursday was unsuccessful.

Farmers Home Furniture opened its first store in 1949 in Soperton, Ga. According to the company, Farmers Home Furniture has become one of the largest furniture retailers in the Southeast, with more than 220 locations in the states of Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.
