An Ohatchee man was killed Saturday evening when the pickup truck he was riding in struck another vehicle along Alabama 144.

The crash occurred five miles east of Ohatchee at 5 p.m., according to State Trooper Cpl. Jimmy Harrell. Norris William Parton, 81, died when a 2001 Ford Ranger he rode in tried to turn from the state highway onto Boiling Springs Road. A 2001 Honda Accord traveling east on the highway hit the truck.

Parton was not wearing a seatbelt, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pauline Trammell, the truck’s driver, was injured in the crash, and taken to RMC in Anniston.

The driver of the Accord, Daniel Knight, was also taken to the hospital, Harrell wrote in an email press release.
