Gov. Kay Ivey will arrive in Anniston on Friday on the last stop of her statewide listening tour.

According to a Wednesday announcement from the governor’s office, Ivey will visit Soteria Supressors, a gun-silencer manufacturer on 10th Street, at 8:50 a.m. Friday. At 9:30 a.m., the governor will head to bus manufacturer New Flyer on National Drive.

After that, Ivey’s expected to meet behind closed doors with local leaders to discuss what they want from state government.

“Economic development, education, crime, it will probably run the gamut,” said Anniston Mayor Jack Draper. The mayor has also said he’ll ask for state help with economic development of McClellan, the former Army post.

Ivey has made similar stops on other cities every week since July, part of what she has called a “listen and lead” tour.

The Star asked local residents last week what they’d like to see the governor accomplish.A statewide lottery was high on the list, along with better schools and road repair.
