An Anniston man died Thursday morning at a Georgia hospital after his truck crashed in Dearmanville, officials said.

Cody Kenneth Cross, 25, was traveling west on Bernard Couch Drive around 11:50 p.m. Wednesday when his 2004 Ford F-150 left the roadway, State Trooper Cpl. Jimmy Harrell said on Friday.

The pickup struck a mailbox, collided with a tree and overturned, Harrell wrote. Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown said Friday that Cross was ejected from the pickup and flown from the scene to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

“We got the notification of his death around 1:45 a.m.” Thursday, Brown said.

Harrell said news of Cross’ death was delayed because the coroner’s office was still working to notify the man’s family of his death.
