In other high school football playoff action Friday, George Hoblitzell's squad at Piedmont controlled the ball, kept Midfield's offensive machine off the field and put two touchdowns on the board in the fourth period for an impressive 24-14 victory over No. 6-ranked Midfield Patriots. Bulldog tailback Greg Nation and fullback Trent Brown accounted for nearly 50 carries between them to provide the bulk of the power in Piedmont's offense. Also this date: Three Pell City residents have filed a lawsuit against the Anniston plant of Monsanto Chemical Company, stemming from findings that fish from Choccolocco Creek were contaminated with polychlorinated biphenyls, or PCBs. The three plaintiffs own land on Logan Martin Lake.
