Sept. 4, 1942, in The Star: W. T. Dunham of 620 Glen Addie Avenue made a lot of fishermen jealous and gave heart-to-heart instructions to others when he displayed a seven-pound largemouth bass he caught near Jenifer. It was his only strike of the trip and he landed the fish on a 30-pound line using an Hawaiian wiggler. Dunham made the catch in a water-filled ore mine hole not far from Jenifer.

Sept. 4, 1992, in The Star: The oft-beleaguered superintendent of Jacksonville City Schools resigned this morning, Dr. Anita Hardin told the board of education in a hastily  called meeting at 7:30 a.m. She told the board she would be taking another job in the Auburn University system starting Oct. 1.
