Two injured in Sunday morning shooting in Anniston

A man and a woman were taken to a local hospital with gunshot wounds Sunday morning after an altercation led to gunfire at a business on Pine Avenue, police said.

Anniston police Sgt. Kyle Price said there was an altercation inside the business around 1 a.m. Sunday that moved outside to the parking lot.

“After the altercation made it outside, shot were fired and two people were injured,” he said.

According to police reports, a 33-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were injured by the gunfire. The two injured were taken to Regional Medical Center, Price said.

“They are expected to make a full recovery,” he said.

Price said a suspect was identified but that person has not been charged with any crimes yet.

“That person did stay at the scene after the shooting,” he said, declining to specify if the suspect is a man or woman.

Price said the victims were acquainted with the suspect.
