A traffic stop by Anniston police on Tuesday soon led to a heroin trafficking arrest, according to police.

In a Facebook post Tuesday night, the Police Department’s street crimes unit said officers made the arrest after finding 5 grams of heroin during a traffic stop in the 500 block of Palmetto Avenue on Tuesday afternoon. Four grams of heroin is enough to spark a trafficking charge.

An arrest report shows Camerin Neshun Thomas, 24, of Anniston was arrested on drug trafficking charges at that same intersection at 3:21 p.m. on Tuesday. Court records show Thomas also faces marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia charges from the stop.

Attempts to reach officers from the street crimes unit for comment Wednesday were unsuccessful.

Thomas remained in jail Wednesday, according to jail records.
