Anniston police responded to two unrelated robberies early Tuesday morning during which suspects brandished firearms, police said.

Police responded shortly after 12:30 a.m. to a report of two masked men robbing a convenience store on Greenbrier Dear Road, Anniston police Sgt. Kyle Price said.

“The two masked individuals came into the business brandishing a firearm,” the sergeant said. “One had the gun and the other had the gathering bag.”

The clerk was not physically injured in the incident.

The two men took the employee’s cell phone, cigarettes and cigars valued at about $100, and cash from the store, according to the incident reports.

Price said investigators have leads in the case and are working to identify the two men.

“I’ve not seen any video of the incident, but I’ve heard there is some,” Price said.

In the second case, police responded shortly after 12:30 a.m. to a report of a robbery at a home on Glen Addie Avenue.

“The victim was attempting to go into his residence when a man approached him, pulled out a firearm and struck him several times with it about the face,” Price said.

Price said the 32-year-old victim fought off his attacker, and the assailant ran away.

“We’re running down leads in this case as well,” the sergeant said.
