TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville State softball team went through a one-hour workout at Florida State University in advance of the NCAA's Tallahassee Regional.
JSU (33-23) will play the No. 6 national-seeded Seminoles (47-10) on Friday at 1:30 p.m., and ESPN3 will televise the game. In the other Tallahassee Regional matchup, Auburn (40-15) will play Kennesaw State (39-15) at 11 a.m., and ESPN3 will carry the broadcast.
A storm swept through Tallahassee on Thursday, which didn't allow the Gamecocks to practice on the Florida State's field. Instead, they worked out at FSU's two-story practice facility, which includes batting cages on the bottom and a open area on the top for abbreviated infield practice.
This marks the eighth time in 11 seasons that JSU has gotten a bid to the NCAA softball tournament. The Gamecocks won the Knoxville Regional in 2009 and finished second in Tuscaloosa in 2008 and Auburn in 2016. Only twice in that stretch has JSU lost both games that it has played.
