Most comic books are printed on glossy pages and sold in comic book stores. In Anniston, they’re painted on about 40 feet of concrete wall behind the Burger King.

An anonymous artist has been painting characters from Marvel, DC and other comic book publishers on the side of a building next to the burger restaurant and Yung Lam Jewelers for months, if not years. The mural is a work in progress, with some illustrations waiting to be filled in. Though the artist declined to be interviewed for this story, his work speaks for him: This is the art of a fan’s fan.
