My wife and I recently attended an event at the Alabama Governor’s Mansion called “A Taste Through Time: Celebrating 200 years of Alabama Food,” which was organized by the Alabama Bicentennial Commission. Alabama will celebrate its 200th anniversary of statehood on Dec. 14, and this event was part of a three-year celebration of the people, places and food that form our state’s rich history.
Held on the grounds of the governor’s mansion, this event was a culinary tour through every region of the state. Three food tents offered dishes unique to each region, including north Alabama, central Alabama, and the Gulf Coast. The event was catered by Kathy G & Company, a Birmingham-based catering and event design firm.
