Sweet sourdough: This tricky but delicious bread is all the rage among pandemic bakers

DAY ONE:

Beginning the process of making sourdough bread starter per instructions found on Washington State University Bread Lab’s website. I mixed and stirred equal parts of flour and water in ¼ cup portions and placed this mixture in a glass jar covered with a clean cloth to rest and work on top of my hot water heater, a recommended location from the Bread Lab.
