In my family, we love Thanksgiving dinner. My mom’s side of the family always gets together at my aunt and uncle’s house and has a massive, blow-out dinner with all the traditional dishes, desserts and lots and lots of wine.

We get our marching orders from my Aunt Alisa in the weeks preceding the holiday. She calls us all up and delegates side dishes and desserts to the family members best known for cooking those respective dishes. I am usually asked to bring an apple pie and sometimes a pot of home-stewed turnip greens. My younger cousin Andrea has always brought the deviled eggs and baked macaroni and cheese as I (until now) never quite figured out baked mac.
