Piedmont’s Desmond Doss helps veterans even in death

This past fall, Desmond T. Doss’ former home in Lynchburg, Va., became a home for veterans.

Doss, a now-famous conscientious objector and U.S. Army medic, saved the lives of at least 74 soldiers during World War II. His deeds of valor were depicted in the 2016 movie “Hacksaw Ridge.”
