Annual community Thanksgiving service

People carrying banners form the various participating congregations walk down the aisle during a previous Interfaith Community Thanksgiving Service at the 17th Street Baptist Church in Anniston.

Hosted by Interfaith Ministries of Calhoun County since 1989, the annual Community Thanksgiving Service unifies people of various faiths — Christian, Muslim and Jew — with the singular goal of praising those programs aimed at helping those in need.

This year’s service will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Church of St. Michael and All Angels, 1000 W. 18th St. in Anniston.

The event will begin with a procession of banners representing participating churches at 3:30 p.m.

James D. McLeod Jr., pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Anniston, will give the message.

A choir made up of singers from area churches will sing “All Things Bright and Beautiful” by Richard Shepherd and “Great is the Goodness of God Almighty” by Robert Greene.
