Alan Jackson is playing two live shows in Alabama this weekend — in a socially distanced “drive-in” format. The drive-in concert idea has been bandied about but never actually executed. There had to be an artist with the star power to pull enough of a crowd for the experiment to work. Jackson’s fan base coupled with his box office pull is a great place to begin.
Much like the events after 9/11, there is much uncertainty about the direction we move in after the coronavirus. In November 2001, Jackson was the first to shine a light on our national mood with his moving ballad “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning).”
