“Landslide” by Susan Conley, Knopf, 2021, 263 pages, $26.95

“Landslide” is Susan Conley’s new novel, a moving account of a wife and mother trying to keep up with the challenges of a family in which she is the only woman.

Conley’s previous novel, “Elsey Come Home,” was an intimate declaration of independence. It was told with such understanding and compassion that it was hard not to finish it at once.
