In Your Community ... Boys & Girls Club of East Central Alabama held fundraiser

The Boys & Girls Club of East Central Alabama held its annual Stake & Steak fundraiser Aug. 21 at the Anniston Meeting Center. The keynote speaker was Mr. Avery Johnson, men’s head basketball coach at The University of Alabama. The event was attended by more than 290-300 supporters, donors and other community members. The event also recognized this year as the 50th anniversary of the BGCECAL. Capt. Marcus Woods, Calhoun County Sheriff’s office is an alumni of the BGC and also served as emcee for the event.

The BGCECAL provides after school, summer and holiday programs for 590 children in eight clubs located in Talladega, Calhoun and Randolph counties. Visit www.bgcecal.org for more information.
