Editor James Bennett's column: Birmingham anchor Christopher Sign's work was as good as it gets in local TV


ABC 33/40 anchor Christopher Sign died at age 45.

Christopher Sign was brilliant as a local TV broadcaster, holding  the powerful accountable and tackling stories that few would dare to untangle.

The popular reporter and anchor most notably worked for two stations, the ABC network affiliates in Phoenix and Birmingham, during his career.


Christopher Sign played college football at the University of Alabama.


Christopher Sign was an evening anchor with ABC 33/40 in Birmingham. Meteorologist James Spann, left, and anchor Brenda Ladun were two of his colleagues.
