Cleburne County will host its annual ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ wrestling tournament Saturday. Head wrestling coach Rusty Mayfield said Wednesday afternoon this year’s tournament field includes intra-county rival Ranburne; Alexandria, Ohatchee, Oxford, Piedmont, Saks, Weaver and Wellborn from Calhoun County; as well as Beauregard, Holtville, Leeds, Lincoln, Moody, Opelika and St. Clair County.

Mayfield said he expects Trevor Ivey to wrestle for Cleburne County at heavyweight, 287 pounds and under. Others expected to represent the Tigers Saturday are Ryan Day (222 pounds), Cade Smith (197), Sam Pate (184), Christian Seale (172), Tyler Higgins (162), C.J. Higgins (154), Tyler Mayfield (147),  Zac Williamson (140), Hunter Beason (134), Matt Williamson (122), Dylan Turner (115) and Clay Carroll (108).

A number of Cleburne County’s wrestles are enjoying outstanding seasons. Mayfield is undefeated at 13-0. Zac Williamson is 18-1. Turner enters Saturday’s action at 17-2 and Smith is 15-2. Pate is 11-3, Seale 12-4 and Tyler Higgins 15-5.
