Cleburne County started the Gadsden Umpires tournament Friday as well as it possibly could as senior Amber Parker tossed a no-hitter on the way to a 7-0 win over Glencoe in six innings. She struck out 15 and walked one. Mallory Nolen, Kiara Akles, Chelsea Parker, Amber Parker, Madison Higgins and Skylar Shierling each had two hits for the Tigers. Higgins scored twice. Chelsea Parker homered and knocked in two runs. Nolen also had two RBIs.
In their second game Friday, the Tigers mauled Fyffe 14-0. They pounded out 21 hits and erupted for nine runs in the fourth inning. Tatiana Ervin, Higgins, Nolen and Amber Parker each had three hits. Rylee Hiett, Shierling, Caitlyn Caffee and Chelsea Parker had two hits each. Hiett drove in three runs. Akles, the winning pitcher, had a home run and three RBIs.
Saturday morning, Cleburne County defeated Pell City 4-1 when Chelsea Park doubled with the bases loaded to drive in Shierling, Ervin and Akles in the bottom of the fifth inning and snap a 1-1 deadlock. Akles homered in the first and Pell City tallied an unearned run off winning pitcher Amber Parker in the fourth. Shierling, Higgins and Chelsea Parker each had two hits. Amber Parker had six strikeouts.
Akles, Amber Parker and Caffee each had two RBIs and Hiett had one as the Tigers defeated Oneonta 8-6.
Moody eliminated Cleburne County with a 6-2 win Saturday evening. Akles had three singles and drove in a run. Amber Parker homered for one run and added a single. Ervin had a pair of singles.
