Cleburne County Emergency Manager Crystal Cavender has been designated as an Advanced Level Emergency Manager by the Alabama Association of Emergency Managers.

Cavender, 37, had to complete 700 hours of curriculum coursework and 300 hours of working real world events.

Cavender said that the designation is the next step in becoming Certified Local Emergency Manager, which is a requirement for every county EMA director in the state.

“I’m just really excited. I’m really proud, a lot of hard work and a lot of time invested in it, very, very proud,” Cavender said.

The designation also coincides with Cavender’s first anniversary as emergency manager for Cleburne County.
