Poinsettias grow to astounding size in southern Mexico. This eight-foot specimen greets visitors to Posada Espiritu Libre, a bed & breakfast where in Tzintzuntzan, Michoacan, where we spent our first week. Here, the plant is called "La Noche Buena," or "The Good Night," referring to Christmas Eve. Coincidentally, our favorite local beer is also called La Noche Buena and uses a poinsettia in its logo.
