These pictures are of the Labor Day singing at Shoal Creek Baptist Church located deep in the Talladega National Forest to the north and east of Heflin. This is the Shoal Creek Baptist Church, a log church built around 1890 to replace the original church built in the 1830s which burned. The church is cared for by a group of decendants of the families that had lived in that area. The singing has been held on Labor Day for 50 years or so.
