Tornado that formed on the DeSoto/Charlotte County line, crossed over the I-75 bridges, and traveled down the Peace River as a waterspout, touched the ground on the Port Charlotte side of the river, bounced back on to the river, crossed the Highway 41 bridges, danced around Charlotte Harbor, before making landfall again in Gilchrist Park. No injuries, power outages and tree limbs down. I understand the tornados here in southwest Florida are not the devastating kinds that occur in the Midwest and Alabama's tornado alley. So says our local weatherman.
