Summer
in the South

The beach at Monterrico, Guatemala, was pretty laid back when we got there. Possibly because it was too hot to move, nearly too hot to breathe — a lot like Alabama in the summer. The black volcanic sand absorbs the day's heat and will blister your feet if you try to walk barefoot on dry sand. The surf was beautiful, but too rough to allow much swimming.
