A Spotted Oleander Moth, Empyreuma affinis. It was hanging upside down from beneath the leaves of Surinam Cherry; the photo has been turned to show the moth better. Its distinctly wasp-like body is black with white spots, and it wings and body where the wings are attached are a cardinal red in good light. Surinam Cherry is not one of its hosts; as far as I know it only lays eggs upon Oleanders.
