Summer

This is what the Monarch left me. The tiny egg was deposited on the underside of a leaf of Scarlet Milkweed, Asclepias curassavica. The eggs were hard to find, so I left them there until they hatched. When the caterpillars were big enough to see, I brought them inside and kept them in an aquarium with a screened top. I had to bring them fresh Milkweed twice a day. Luckily, I had enough. Each time I went out to get food for them, I found a few more caterpillars, and I brought them in too.
