NEXT | START OVER | PREVIOUS Two Monarch caterpillers strip one of the last branches of my Scarlet Milkweed. The next morning one of the caterpillers had disappeared (most likely to pupate) and the other was finishing the last of the flowers, after which it disappeared also. I presume they are converting from the larval form to the butterfly form while hanging in a chrysalis somewhere in the hedge. I sure am glad I had several milkweed plants for them. Without the Monarch activity, it would have been a very long winter.
