This is the first of the white peonies, shot Tuesday evening. By Wednesday morning, a half-dozen more had opened. This is an heirloom plant. It came first from my grandmother who lived in Winchester, Tenn., (and somebody probably gave it to her from their yard). She gave it to my other grandmother who planted it in her yard in New Hope, Ala. After she died, my sister lived in that house and gave me several pieces of our grandmothers' peonies. I planted them in my yard in Bartlett, Tenn. When I moved back to Alabama in 1993, I brought some with me.
