Feels Like Fall NEXT | START OVER | PREVIOUS
Mexican Sunflower, Tithonia diversifolia. This is a very tall sunflower, 15-20 feet. It likes full sun but can take partial shade and forms a colony wherever you put it. I planted three cuttings two years ago, and I counted 46 blooms and many more buds a moment ago. They bloom from now until frost. The bees and butterflies love them, but you have to look at them from a distance. To get a close-up like this, I pulled the stalk down and held it with my cane while I shot the picture with my free hand. The only other way would be to climb the oaks and shoot down or use a very tall ladder.
