White Ibis, Eudocimus albus. We often get small flocks of White Ibises flying into our yard to "graze" or forage for insects. I used to think that the Ibis was strictly a water bird, but not only do they forage in shallow water and mud flats for insects, they also search for insects in short dry grass in pastures and yards. They are so beautiful and graceful in flight that it is a real joy to see a flock of them coming in. When in flight the black feathers at the ends of their wings give them a handsome, dressy look. This one came by itself this morning and didn't seem to mind having its photograph made.
