Blooms of the Barbados Cherry, Malpighia glabra. The fruits look like tiny Red Delicious apples but are the same size as ordinary cherries. They are very high in vitamin C. One fruit has as much vitamin C as an orange. They are also rich in vitamin A, iron, calcium, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, riboflavin and thiamine. They can be eaten right from the tree and are delicious. My tree hasn't yet bloomed, but I am expect it will be blooming soon. It was started from a cutting from the tree shown in this picture and is almost 3 years old now.
