From the quiet of the patio to the bustle of the Newsroom. Reporters and editors work in groups according to their primary section of the newspaper, but are not isolated from each other. Here, Metro reporters are in the foreground and Features staff are on the other side of the partition. Beyond Features is the news library, at the center of the News department.
Standing up, Senior Writer Matt Korade is much taller than the partitions, but at his desk, the low walls cut down on noise to provide a better environment for reading and telephone interviews without interfering with the ubiquitous impromptu meetings. When more privacy is required, Newsroom staff can go to the Think Tank, an informal space designated for that purpose.
The corridor leading from the lobby to the Newsroom is deceptively peaceful.
