Dr. Michael Edwards was installed as president of the Alabama Dental Association June 17 at the association’s 143rd annual meeting in Orange Beach. Dr. Edwards will represent the Alabama Dental Association as a delegate at the American Dental Association’s annual meeting in San Francisco, Calif., in October. He will also be an ADA faculty member at a course on anesthesia and sedation emergency management to be offered at that meeting.

Dr. Edwards has practiced dentistry in Wedowee for 30 years, and has been a faculty member at University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry since 1995. He serves as faculty in the department of hospital dentistry at UAB. Dr. Edwards lectures nationally on the subject of sedation and serves as the chairman of the Committee on Anesthesia for the American Dental Association.

The Alabama Dental Association represents more than 1800 Alabama dentists in their efforts to provide quality oral health care to the residents of Alabama.
