The Calhoun County Birders will present a program on African birds at 10 a.m. May 14 at the Jacksonville Senior Center, adjacent to the Jacksonville Community Center. The Marine Corps and the Montford Point Marine Association is looking for African Americans who trained at the segregated Marine facility Camp Montford Point from 1942-1949. Legislation to award the original Montford Point Marines with a Congressional Gold Medal was signed by President Obama in November 2011.
