April proclaimed as Sarcoidosis Awareness month in Alabama

Gov. Robert Bentley signed a proclamation March 21 proclaiming April as Sarcoidosis Awareness month in an effort to raise awareness about the disease. Receiving the proclamation was Dr. Joseph Barney, director of the Multidisciplinary Sarcoidosis Clinic at the Kirklin Clinic in Birmingham.

Those in attendance were Lanier O’Hare, the research coordinator for clinical trials for sarcoidosis with pulmonary medicine at UAB; Alice Minyard of Rainbow City; Pam Kelly of Jasper; Karen Reynolds and Lisa Stuart, both of Huntsville, whom all have been diagnosed with sarcoidosis. Also in attendance was Stephen Kelly of Jasper and Beverly Bullock of Gadsden, family members of attendees.
