SPRINGVILLE — Jacksonville overcame an early 14-0 deficit with three consecutive touchdowns but could not contain Springville’s passing attack and fell to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in Class 4A, Region 6 games.

Immanuel Holifield opened Jacksonville’s scoring with a 1-yard run on fourth-and-goal with 4:24 left in the first quarter. Trailing 14-6, the Golden Eagles scored again on a 9-yard run by Trevon Huey with 10:44 left in the second quarter. A two-point conversion attempt failed.

The Eagles took an 18-14 lead on Holifield’s second touchdown, this one a 5-yard run with 7:02 left in the second quarter. Forrest Pearson’s fumble recovery gave Jacksonville field position at the Springville 39-yard line. A 23-yard run by Dominique Thomas got the Eagles close.

Springville added a touchdown pass and returned a Jacksonville fumble 40 yards of a score before halftime and led 27-18 at the break. Both Springville’s second-half touchdowns came through the air.
